The City Council informs that the plan to reinforce safety and maintenance on rural roads continues.

The Consistory executes throughout the year cleaning and clearing works along with interventions of greater depth, such as those carried out in recent months in Camino de La Pileta, La Cala, Loma de Atanasio, Huertas del Padrón, Parque de Los Pedregales and Camino Adana, as well as Camino Nicola to Camino Velerín.

The Consistory plans to continue carrying out stabilization and improvement works in other parts of the municipality.

The Estepona City Council reports that it continues to work on the plan to strengthen the safety and maintenance of rural roads in the municipality. The Consistory runs throughout the year cleaning and clearing works, but also other interventions of greater depth, depending on the needs. This is the case of the interventions carried out in recent months, which have been located in points such as the Camino de La Pileta, which runs from the area of Monterroso to the municipal cemetery Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz. In this area, the soil loosened by the rains has been removed and new gravel has been added, while a retaining wall has been built, ditches have been cleaned and the roadbed has been concreted.

In addition to these works, work has also been carried out on the roads of La Cala, Loma de Atanasio and Huertas del Padrón. Likewise, work has been carried out to improve the road surface of Parque de Los Pedregales and Camino Adana, as well as Camino Nicola to Camino Velerín.

In addition, the City Council plans to continue carrying out work to improve safety on more rural roads, through other actions such as stabilization and drainage both longitudinal and transverse.

In parallel, the City Council of Estepona performs throughout the year works for the maintenance, cleaning and clearing of rural roads in areas under municipal jurisdiction. Specifically, during the last year the two margins of 134.5 kilometers of roads have been cleared, making a total of 269 kilometers. Various actions have also been carried out to repair ditches, esplanades and road surfaces in more than 13,480 linear meters.

It is important to note that the Consistory also acts in the cleaning of municipal plots and, in a subsidiary manner, in those private plots where the owners do not comply with the standard but it is necessary that they are perfectly preserved due to the risk of fire.

The Estepona City Council also reports the completion of the work being done in more than fifty beds and steps of streams and rivers that run through urban areas in the city for cleaning and clearing, with the aim of preventing floods and fires.

floods and fires. As every year, the completion of this municipal plan coincides with the beginning of the breeding season of animal species that inhabit the river banks, thus ensuring their protection while respecting the nesting times of protected species.

This annual campaign clears the riverbeds of obstacles that may prevent their normal drainage, while avoiding the formation of blockages that could cause flooding in the event of heavy rainfall. The clearing of stream beds is also carried out with the intention of avoiding forest fires that put the neighbors and the natural heritage of the municipality at risk.

It should be remembered that the City Council is only competent to act in areas that are in urban areas, while the Junta de Andalucía is responsible for the maintenance of those that run in other areas of the municipality.
