Teams from IES Profesor Tomás Hormigo, Monterroso and Puerta del Mar, winners of the V Children’s Athletics Tournament

The Final of the Tournament was held on Tuesday at the Municipal Athletics Stadium, with the participation of more than 300 students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd of ESO from six schools

The Estepona City Council reports that last Tuesday April 14 was held at the Municipal Athletics Stadium the final of the ‘V Children’s Athletics Tournament 2026’, organized by the Consistory, with the collaboration of the Athletics Club of Estepona and the participating local secondary schools.

Once the training phase was completed, between February and April, more than 300 students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd ESO of six schools participated in the various tests of the competition included in the final, resulting in winners the male and female teams of IES Professor Tomás Hormigo (Group A), and Monterroso and Puerta del Mar (Group B) male and female, respectively.

According to the category, the tests were the following (male and female):

– Races: Speed (80/100 m.l.) and Endurance (600/800 m,l.).

– Competitions: Long Jump and Shot Put (3/4 kg male, and 3 kg female).

– Relays: 4×80/100 m.l.

The schools that obtained the highest number of points were proclaimed champions, both male and female, after adding up the points of all the events, and medals were awarded to the first three classified in each category, in each of the events, both male and female. In addition, trophies were awarded to the top three schools in each category, in the final score, both male and female.
