FREMAP recognizes Estepona City Council for its defense of the occupational health of municipal employees

The mutual insurance company today awarded a diploma to the Consistory for the progressive reduction of the accident rate and the implementation of a “solid preventive culture in the local administration”.
Estepona City Council today received a diploma of recognition from the mutual social security collaborator FREMAP for the work done in the last 25 years in favor of the progressive reduction of the accident rate of municipal employees and the implementation of a strong preventive culture in this local administration.
The deputy mayor of the area of Finance and Personnel, Ana Vilaseca, has thanked this recognition that coincides with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and has put in value the activity carried out by the municipal service of prevention of occupational risks since it was formed in 2012.
Among the functions performed by this municipal service, it is worth highlighting the compliance with the Occupational Risk Prevention Law and its development regulations, in the interest of ensuring the safety and health of municipal employees in the exercise of their duties. Thus, actions are carried out aimed at training in the prevention of risks that cause accidents, and consequently, sick leave, training for action in case of emergencies, medical examinations of work, both initial and periodic, or adaptations of functions for health reasons, among others.
These preventive actions are negotiated and agreed with the workers’ representatives in the Health and Safety Committee, so that the priorities of measures to be adopted are established collaboratively according to the danger and the needs in accordance with the demands of work performance, adapting it to technical and technological evolution.
On the other hand, the director of the Ronda and Estepona office of FREMAP, Gonzalo Rodríguez, and the head of the Estepona office of FREMAP, Ramón Jesús Latorre, have pointed out that today the joint work carried out by the City Council and the mutual company to implement actions such as the agile access to professionals and quick diagnoses to reduce recovery times in the workplace accident is rewarded, the preventive counseling programs adapted to the positions and needs of the Consistory, the reduction of the social cost of absenteeism for the municipality, the technical support in prevention for municipal operational areas or the contribution to the updating of public services through analysis and data-based management.
