The City Council wraps up the “2025–26 School Hiking Program” with a guided hike along the north face of Sierra Bermeja for middle and high school students

The “Pinsapo Integral” trail, which is 5,500 meters long and has an elevation gain of 600 meters, was led by municipal staff

The Estepona City Council reports that last Friday marked the end of the 2025–26 edition of the “Municipal School Hiking Program,” designed for students in elementary, middle, and high school.

As a grand finale to this school year, in which some 2,500 students between the ages of 7 and 18 from various schools in the municipality participated, the City Council organized a hike along the north face of Sierra Bermeja, in which about twenty students from 4th year of ESO and high school, along with some teachers, participated.

The “Pinsapo Integral” route, 5,500 meters long with an elevation gain of 600 meters, ended at the summit of Pico de Los Reales, at an altitude of 1,452 meters, and was led by three municipal guides. Since this route largely coincides with the Sierra Bermeja Trail—which used to be held before the 2021 wildfire—it helps restore sections that have become obscured by low scrub.

The “Municipal School Hiking Program” was launched in 2013 and is organized by the municipal departments of Youth, Sports, and the Environment.
