Work on the El Carmen parking garage is nearing completion, with the facility scheduled to open this summer

Now that the exterior development has been completed, work is focusing on the finishing touches to the interior facilities

The new public parking garage—the sixth to join the municipal network of parking facilities with a daytime rate of 1 euro—will have more than 300 spaces spread across three underground levels.

The Estepona City Council reports that construction on the new El Carmen public parking garage is nearing completion following the completion of exterior landscaping work and the structural completion of the underground building. Work is now focused on finishing the interior facilities.

As such, work is currently underway to polish the floors and clean all the equipment. According to technical projections, the new public parking garage is expected to open this summer, once all permits required for the facility’s operation have been obtained.

In recent months, the streets surrounding the parking garage—including Manuel Navarro Mollor, Padre Fernando, and Guadiaro—have been paved. 

The execution of this project has involved significant technical complexity due to its location in the heart of the city center and adjacent to neighboring buildings, a circumstance that has required the work to be carried out with special caution during the initial phases of construction.

Once the current phase of the project is completed, the City Council will make a new public square in the area available to residents while maintaining vehicle traffic, significantly improving the appearance and functionality of this part of the city center.

The new El Carmen public parking garage will have more than 300 spaces spread across three underground levels. These new spaces will be added to the more than 2,000 existing municipal parking spaces in the city, which charge a rate of 1 euro during the day, distributed among the parking garages located at the new City Hall, Antonia Guerrero Square, the Athletics Stadium, Plaza del Ajedrez, and La Viña.

It should be noted that the City Council is also currently working on the underground parking garage to be built on Bulevar de Estepona, which will add another 300 spaces.
