The City Council is giving new momentum to the boulevard construction project with the completion of the underground utility lines and the parking garage foundation, which is 75% complete.

Work is already underway to connect Juan Carlos I Avenue with San Roque and Melilla Streets, following the opening of San Lorenzo Avenue to pedestrian traffic and the access points along España Avenue

The Estepona City Council is giving new momentum to construction on the city’s future boulevard, which is being built in the area surrounding San Lorenzo, Juan Carlos I, and España avenues, and which will mark the culmination of Estepona’s major urban transformation. In recent weeks, the project has made significant progress, with the completion of the installation of underground utility lines (electricity, telecommunications, drinking water, irrigation, and sewer).

In addition, both pedestrian traffic on San Lorenzo Avenue and access points via España Avenue are now open, thereby restoring the area’s east-west connection. As for the infrastructure work on Juan Carlos I Avenue, 60% of the project has already been completed, and work has begun to connect this avenue with its perpendicular streets: San Roque Street and Melilla Street.

As for the parking garage’s foundation and structure, 75% of the foundation work has already been completed, with completion scheduled for August. Work on the intermediate floor slab is halfway complete, while the roof is 40% complete and is expected to be finished in September.

This project will connect the pedestrian boulevard along the Mediterranean—which the former N-340 highway has become and which has created one of the country’s finest seaside promenades—with the renovated historic center, known as the “Garden of the Costa del Sol.”

The underground section of Estepona’s boulevard will feature a parking garage for more than 300 vehicles, which will be added to the municipal network of parking facilities costing users 1 euro per day. The above-ground section will feature unique elements such as plazas, promenades, water features, and parks, giving the urban space its own character and serving as a gathering place for residents. It will also include designated taxi stands, loading and unloading zones for local businesses, parking areas for motorcycles and electric vehicles, and bicycle parking, reflecting a clear commitment to improving mobility.

With this project, the Estepona City Council continues to advance its model of a friendly, green city open to the sea, consolidating an urban transformation that has made it a national benchmark for the quality of its public spaces and its firm commitment to the well-being of its residents.
