The City Council is allocating more than 100,000 euros to renovate the Padre Manuel Cultural Center

The City Council is replacing the flooring in various areas of this building and will also install 150 new seats in its auditorium

The Estepona City Council reports that renovation and improvement work is underway at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, one of the city’s main cultural facilities.

Macarena Dianez, the councilwoman in charge of Culture and Festivals, explained that the work—which will involve an investment of 102,000 euros— are necessary to renovate various spaces within this public facility, which hosts a significant portion of Estepona’s cultural activities throughout the year. In this regard, she noted that the Padre Manuel Cultural Center houses the Municipal Library, the various municipal cultural schools, and the Film Club, in addition to numerous activities, courses, presentations, and events held on its premises.

Among the planned improvements currently underway is the renovation of the flooring in various areas of the center, specifically the entrance, hallways, press room, and auditorium. 

The project involves the installation of vinyl flooring, including priming, adhesive application, seam welding, and the installation of transition strips, as well as the labor required for proper installation, as indicated by the councilwoman.

The renovation also includes updating the auditorium’s furnishings with 150 new seats, which will be supplied, assembled, and installed in this space. 

The new seats are designed for frequent and intensive use and must meet standards for ergonomics, comfort, sturdiness, and durability, in addition to complementing the building’s aesthetic features. The furnishings must comply with universal accessibility criteria and the corresponding safety and quality standards for use in a public space. 

The new seating will feature reclining seats and backrests, fire-retardant upholstery, high-density polyurethane foam, and components designed to ensure quiet and comfortable operation. The seats will also be numbered and include row markers. 

With this project, the City Council continues to work on the preservation, modernization, and improvement of municipal cultural facilities, with the goal of offering spaces that are more comfortable, functional, and suitable for both users and the numerous activities held there.

This project complements others that the City Council has already carried out at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center as part of the municipal energy efficiency plan.

In that project, with an investment of 122,477 euros, including VAT, the existing lighting fixtures were replaced with LED technology, motion sensors were installed, and solar panels were added.

These measures improved the facilities’ energy efficiency and led to a reduction in CO2 emissions, as well as an estimated annual savings of 13,000 euros in energy costs.

Thus, these new improvement and refurbishment efforts allow for continued progress in the modernization of the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, one of the key venues for Estepona’s cultural programming.
