Estepona is hosting the First Solidarity Ham-Slicing Competition, in which some 40 professionals will participate

It will take place on Sunday, September 13, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Plaza del Ajedrez, and will raise funds for the Spanish Cancer Association in Estepona

María Aguilar, the councilwoman assigned to the Citizen Participation Department; Julia Crespo, president of the Spanish Cancer Association in Estepona; and ham carver Agustín Hernández presented the First Charity Ham Carving Event today.

The event will take place on Sunday, September 13, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Plaza del Ajedrez, where some 40 ham carvers will offer charity tastings, with each plate of ham priced at 5 euros. In addition, there will be musical performances, raffles, and a booth where the Estepona branch of the AECC will provide information about its activities and the services it offers.

The city official expressed her gratitude for this charitable initiative, whose main objective is to raise funds that will be used entirely to finance the free services offered by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Estepona to patients and their families, as well as to contribute to cancer research.

The councilwoman highlighted the important work carried out by this organization and reiterated the City Council’s commitment to it and other organizations that provide essential services to our residents, “working together so they can carry out their work under the best possible conditions.” In this regard, she recalled that last month the City Council provided the AECC in Estepona with a facility that will enable them to provide free care to cancer patients and their families for the next 20 years, thereby ensuring the continuity of their support services.

For their part, Julia Crespo and Agustín Hernández stated that this event was created with the goal of becoming a flagship charity event in the municipality, aimed at raising funds for the AECC in Estepona, encouraging citizen participation, and raising awareness about the importance of prevention, research, and support; to highlight the culture of ham; and to promote Estepona as a town committed to social causes.
