The City Council will distribute 3,000 commemorative T-shirts for the stage of La Vuelta 2026 that will pass through Estepona

On the same day as the event—September 11—there will also be a “Cycling Meetup” with virtually the same route as La Vuelta.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today unveiled the commemorative T-shirt for La Vuelta 2026, produced by the City Council to mark our city’s hosting of the third-to-last stage of this major cycling event. “A special T-shirt to commemorate a major sporting event and highlight Estepona’s role as a host city for La Vuelta,” said the mayor.

As García Urbano explained, on September 11—the day the 19th stage takes place in Estepona—3,000 T-shirts will be distributed free of charge, with the aim of encouraging residents to participate in this major sporting event. Distribution will begin at 12:00 p.m. at three locations throughout the city: at the entrance to City Hall, at the beginning of Calle Terraza off Avenida España, and at the start of the bridge leading up to Sierra Bermeja. One T-shirt will be given per person while supplies last.

The T-shirts have been designed in two colors. The yellow ones are intended for volunteers helping to organize La Vuelta, to make it easier to identify them during the stage. The rest of the public will receive red T-shirts, helping to fill the streets of Estepona with color for this major sporting event.

The front of the design features the inscription “Estepona, September 11, 2026 La Vuelta,” alongside the Estepona coat of arms and the La Vuelta logo. On the back, the message “Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol” will be displayed, highlighting the city’s identity and character.

José María García Urbano has encouraged residents to pick up their T-shirts and dress Estepona in red to enjoy a historic day of sports, during which the city will take center stage on the route of La Vuelta 2026.

Also, on September 11, a “Cycling Meetup” will be held, starting at 8:30 a.m. from the Parque Ferial y Deportiva. Participants will complete a 23-kilometer route, which will be virtually the same as the one the La Vuelta riders will take through our municipality, experiencing the unique challenges and difficulty the peloton will face, especially on the climb to Peñas Blancas. No registration is required, so anyone interested simply needs to go to the starting point.

The mayor highlighted the event’s recreational and non-competitive nature, noting that it will be a great opportunity for cycling enthusiasts—a sustainable sport deeply rooted in the city that promotes healthy lifestyles.
