Plants: Elephant ear orchid in bloom
The elephant ear orchid (Phalaenopsis gigantea) is currently in flower at Estepona Orchid House. It comes from Borneo, stands out because of the size of its leaves and is expected to flower until mid-February. The elephant ear orchid has already flowered in 2019 and 2020, but not after that – until now. The flowers are large, showy and waxy.
Interested visitors can view the elephant’s ear orchid from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 5pm Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from 10am to 2pm on Sundays, at Calle Terraza 86 in Estepona. Admission is 1 to 3 euros and can be paid on site.
The Estepona Orchid House houses around 3,000 plant species, of which more than 1,500 are orchids.
