The City Council brings opera to the public with a free performance of ‘Don Giovanni’ in the Clock Square
The performance, which will be represented by the company Teatro Lírico Andaluz, will take place next Thursday, August 10, at 22:00 hours.
The City Council of Estepona reports that has scheduled the performance of the opera ‘Don Giovanni’ in the Plaza del Reloj so that citizens can enjoy free of charge this famous piece by Mozart.
It will be represented by the Malaga company Teatro Lírico Andaluz next Thursday, August 10, at 22.00.
It is a humorous drama in two acts, with music by Maestro Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) and libretto in Italian by Lorenzo da Ponte, based on various sources, especially in “Don Juan” by Tirso de Molina.
The opera ‘Don Giovanni’ is a jewel of the international lyric; it was premiered at the National Theater in Prague on October 29, 1787. Qualified as perfect by the specialized critics, Teatro Lírico Andaluz, a professional company that has been working on the best national stages for two decades, brings a cast of professional voices of international prestige for this occasion.
A great scenic and musical staging of about two hours of duration, with an outdoor staging. It has been made more accessible and agile to the public with the introduction of text in Spanish alternating with the declamation of the music in Italian, hence the duration of two hours instead of three hours that lasts the original.
It is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant pages in the history of opera, with the shocking and spectacular denouement at the end of the work, where the Commendatore takes to hell the traitor, womanizer, cruel and libertine Don Giovanni, to the terror of his servant Leporello. A brilliant musical version of the myth of Don Juan. An evening to enjoy and be moved by Mozart’s best music and also, why not, shudder….
