The City Council publishes new conditions regulating the activity of street musicians

Interested parties require a municipal authorization that must be requested from the Consistory, indicating the preferred place and time for the performances.

The City Council of Estepona has published a Municipal Bylaw in which the new conditions for the realization of musical activities on public streets are included. In this way are regulated the performances of street artists, who must have an authorization from the Consistory itself.

The artists will require a municipal authorization for the occupation of public roads and the development of musical performances in general in the municipality, and must submit an application for this purpose, either physically at the premises of the City Council, located at Avenida Juan Carlos I, number 40, or through the electronic headquarters: https://estepona.sedelectronica.es, by means of a general request.

Interested parties must specify in such request the schedule in which they intend to develop the activity and the specific area of the municipality or location in which they would develop the same.

These activities will be analyzed by the municipal area of Commerce, that will attend to reasons of opportunity and convenience to the public interest, and being in any case authorizations in precarious, of temporary character. They will also be personal and non-transferable permits.

According to the new Municipal Ordinance, the musical performances will be carried out without musical equipment or loudspeakers, in compliance with the Ordinance of Protection against Noise Pollution, expressly warning that the Local Police of Estepona may at any time terminate the activity, carrying out the stoppage of the same without a license, immobilization or sealing of the source of noise pollution.

The municipality of Estepona, as an area of great tourist affluence, encompasses a diversity of activities in its streets. From the municipal Corporation continues to promote the exercise of leisure, as well as culture and the development of artistic activities that in turn can enliven the activities inherent in the exercise of hospitality or host musical performances and public exhibition by the public.

Therefore, a Municipal Ordinance has been published indicating the conditions for the performance of performances on public roads by street artists, in accordance with the provisions of the Ordinance regulating the Occupation of Public Roads in the area of Commerce, published in the BOP March 1, 2021, as well as the Ordinance against Noise Pollution published in the BOP number 144 of July 28, 2005.

By the area of Commerce of the City Council will be carried out relevant actions for a future amendment of the Municipal Ordinance of Occupation of Public Roads in order to accommodate the delimitation of the conditions of use of areas of musical activity and conditions of provision of musical activity by street performers.
