The Estepona City Council will offer more than a hundred cultural and leisure activities during the summer months.

Concerts by Andy y Lucas, Serafín Zubiri, Daniel Casares and Javier Ojeda, together with festivals of different musical and theater styles, are some of the events planned.

The 25th edition of the International Fantastic Film Week, the World Ham Competition with eight free concerts, the Fashion Week and the Summer Cinema in the gardens of the Botanical Orchid Park, will be added to this varied program.

Program of the Summer Cultural Agenda 2024

The deputy mayor of the Sociocultural area, Paula Herrera, and the councilor attached to the delegation of Festivals, Macarena Diánez, today presented the Summer Cultural Agenda organized by the City Council for the coming months and includes more than a hundred activities, the most varied and aimed at all audiences.

Paula Herrera explained that once again this year will have special prominence concerts offered by the Municipal Band. It will be every Sunday from July 14. Among them, has highlighted the concert that will close the season on August 25 and will feature the special participation of singer and composer Serafin Zubiri.

In addition, there will be a Theater Festival with the representation of the works ‘Varietés’ of the Municipal Theater Group, on Thursday, August 15; ‘Mouling Legend’ by the Musical Theatre, on Friday, August 16; and ‘La Llamada’ of the Comic Theatre, on Saturday, August 17.

Comedy will also have a very important space, with shows to be held at the Plaza de Toros, such as the monologue ‘La Capital del Pecado 2.0’ to be offered by the Madrid comedian Juan Dávila on August 1 and 2. On August 9 Garrapata vs Trinchera, two of the great characters that remained for the history of the Cadiz comic carnival, will measure their knowledge in a television program. And on August 10 the well-known comedian and TV presenter Ángel Martín will present his monologue ‘Punto para los locos’.

From September 7 to 14 the 25th anniversary of the International Week of Fantastic Cinema will be celebrated, with a monographic of the history of this festival. Thus, it will feature great characters such as director Claudio Fragasso, Unicorn of Honor Award 2024; and actors Alex O’Dogerthy, José Pastor Elia Galera and Salva Reina, who will collect the award for best TV series for ‘Mano de Hierro’. The Azpiri Award for Best Graphic Illustrator will go to Santiago Padilla and the Godfather of the Festival will be the comic actor Miguel Ángel Martín.

This year repeats the Summer Cinema, which will take place every Wednesday with free screenings of eight films. Another event that can not miss in summer is the Book Fair from July 11 to September 8, which at its opening will feature writers Rafael Javier Pérez Pallarés and Francisco Quintero González.

For their part, the little ones can enjoy a marathon of stories on July 18 and the Festival ‘TiterEstepona 2024’ which will offer three shows on August 23, 6 and 13 September.

For young audiences will be offered on August 10, a Solidarity Fair Friki Market with numerous activities, participatory games, inclusive and for all audiences, adapted to the geek theme. And from 6 to 8 September will come to the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses a new edition of the Manga Festival of the Costa del Sol.

The councilor attached to the delegation of Festivities, Macarena Diánez has highlighted the concerts of Daniel Casares and Javier Ojeda, vocalist of Danza Invisible, on August 1, and Andy and Lucas on August 24.

Continuing with the musical panorama, the mayor has also referred to the multiple appointments with classical music, as on July 11 the performance of the Cologne Chamber Philharmonic, on July 20 the concert of a Wind Trio of the García Fajer Foundation, on July 13 the baritone and musician David Geary will present the show ‘Film Music’, on September 6 we will have the Malaga Camerata orchestra and on September 27 we will enjoy the concert of the pianist Maria Iciar Serrano.

Also the lyric will have a space in this program, with the zarzuela ‘La verbena de la Paloma’ on July 19 and the opera ‘The Magic Flute’ on July 20.

The ‘Espeto Fest’ from July 25 to 27, the World Music Festival on August 30 and 31 and September 1 are also back. In addition, the Plaza de Toros will be the stage for various tributes to great artists. On August 3 there will be a Festival of the 80s and 90s, on August 4 a tribute to Mecano, on August 15 to the great bands the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones and Colplay and on August 23 to Dire Straits.

Another of the most interesting events is the Certamen Mundial del Jamón, to be held from August 8 to 15 on the Paseo Marítimo, and which, in addition to the best Iberian products, will offer free concerts. Another of the activities related to gastronomy and music will be the Wine Street Jazz on July 27.

This varied program also includes the Fashion Week from 25 to 28 September, which also features the V Contest of Young Designers ‘Estepona de Moda’, which this year will distribute 3,000 euros among the best classified.

And finally, refer to the solidarity events such as the White Night of Aprona on July 27, the Verbena Luna de Remedios on August 3, XV Biker Meeting on August 4, the Verbena de Dolores 2024 on August 17 and the II Fair Cofrade ‘The Legacy of Estepona’ on 14 and 15 September.
