History: Stone tools from the Palaeolithic Age found

In Las Mesas de Saladavieja in Estepona, so-called stone artefacts have been found during excavations. The stone tools, which were used among other things for cutting, working and beating animal skins, probably date back to the Palaeolithic Age.

The finds were recovered by a team from the Archaeotectura company led by archaeologist Cibeles Fernández and examined by prehistorian Luis Pérez Ramos. They are now on display in the city’s Archaeological Museum.

In addition to the finds from the Old Stone Age (Palaeolithic), very poorly preserved remains of a Roman site were also found in the area, dating back about 2,000 years.
