The City Council recovers the Manuel Requena ‘Melilla’ square as a new civic space with playgrounds and rest areas.

The Consistory concludes the comprehensive remodeling works that have provided the area with new lighting, street furniture and landscaping.

The Estepona City Council has completed the comprehensive remodeling of the square Manuel Requena ‘Melilla’, an action that has allowed the enhancement and citizen enjoyment of this space. The intervention is part of the municipal plan that has been carried out to improve neighborhoods in the city.

With this work, the Consistory recovers the square, which was in an obsolete state, as a new civic and leisure space with new playgrounds and rest areas. The result is a more modern environment with shade, landscaping and playgrounds, as well as a new lighting network. In short, an open square, practically in disuse, has been completely transformed into a place to rest, meet and play.

The Deputy Mayor for Infrastructure, Ana Velasco, explains that this action is part of the plan being developed by the Consistory in traditional neighborhoods for adaptation to current neighborhood demands.

The intervention, with a budget of about 395,000 euros, has also contemplated the complete replacement of the pavement, sewerage and water supply networks and renovation of connections and manholes. The area has also been equipped with a fountain.
