The City Council is implementing a comprehensive security and cleaning plan in preparation for the Fair and Annual Festivals

The automated cleaning system will enable the daily collection of more than 10,000 kilos of waste
The Estepona City Council reports that it will deploy a comprehensive security and cleaning operation to ensure the smooth running of the Fair and Annual Festivals, which begin today and conclude on July 12.
The goal of this operation is to ensure that the scheduled activities proceed as planned, to provide a safe environment for residents and visitors, and to maintain optimal cleanliness conditions at both the fairgrounds and in the city center.
In terms of security, the Local Police will maintain a permanent presence at the Fair and Sports Park, with access controls for authorized vehicles and specific measures to regulate the flow of people during peak hours. The operation will be carried out in coordination with the National Police, Civil Protection, and the Fire Department, reinforcing surveillance during the main events of the festival program and in areas with the highest concentration of people.
Likewise, special traffic control measures will be implemented at the entrances to the Real de la Feria and on surrounding roads, with temporary traffic restrictions at certain points to facilitate mobility and ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers. Specific security measures will also be implemented during the opening fireworks display, the horse parade, the concerts at the Caseta Municipal, and other activities with the largest crowds.
The Local Police will also maintain permanent patrols at the fairgrounds throughout the week to prevent incidents, ensure compliance with regulations, and facilitate an orderly evacuation of the grounds at the end of each day, thereby allowing daily cleanup operations to begin.
At the same time, the City Council has designed a major special cleaning operation that will mobilize an average of 25 workers each day to keep the fairgrounds and the city center in the best possible condition throughout the week of the fair.
The largest deployment will take place during the early morning hours, when ten manual street sweepers will begin working at 7:00 a.m. at the fairgrounds, supported by a mechanical sweeper, a garbage truck for waste removal, and a street-washing truck, ensuring the grounds are fully prepared before daily activities begin.
To improve comfort for attendees during the hottest part of the day, each day, around 4:00 p.m., a water tanker will spray the sidewalks and pavements around the booths that remain open during the day and the Municipal Booth, helping to mitigate the effects of the heat.
During the afternoon, five workers will be responsible for sweeping and hosing down the fairgrounds’ pathways. This operation will pay special attention to the horse parade route, for which a high-pressure water truck will be on hand to immediately clean up any waste generated during this activity. In addition, a special waste collection will take place at 6:00 p.m. to keep the grounds in perfect condition throughout the day.
The cleanup plan will be complemented by a night crew responsible for continuously emptying trash cans and removing trash bags to prevent the accumulation of waste. Likewise, the City Council will reinforce the venue with twenty additional municipal solid waste containers, a measure that will allow for the management of the more than 10,000 kilograms of waste generated daily during the Fair.
Once the festivities conclude, starting on July 12 and for the following three days, a new team consisting of ten workers, supported by a street sweeper, a street washer, and a garbage truck, will carry out a comprehensive cleanup of the fairgrounds while the attractions are gradually being dismantled.
The Estepona City Council calls on citizens to cooperate to ensure the smooth running of the Fair by respecting temporary signage, following the instructions of law enforcement officers at all times, and using the provided trash containers and receptacles responsibly. Everyone’s cooperation will ensure that residents and visitors alike can enjoy a safe, clean festival in the best possible conditions.
