The City Council is installing shaded areas at local schools

This initiative, which complements the climate control plan launched by the City Council, has involved an investment of approximately 60,000 euros

The Estepona City Council continues to make progress in improving thermal comfort conditions in the municipality’s schools by installing shaded areas at local public schools. This initiative has involved an investment of approximately 60,000 euros and reinforces the measures implemented by the City Council to ensure more comfortable spaces for students and teaching staff.

The councilwoman in charge of the Education Department, María Aguilar, explained that these structures, installed by the Operational Brigades, measure 6 by 12 meters and are covered with the sails that were previously removed from the Paseo Marítimo. Aguilar emphasized that this initiative has made it possible to reuse existing materials, promoting resource conservation and supporting a more sustainable and efficient management of municipal assets.

The municipal official also noted that this initiative complements the Climate Control Plan, which began last summer with the installation of fifty air conditioning and heating units in schools and will be completed in the near future with of an equal number of these units in classrooms that did not previously have this service. Thus, once this plan is fully implemented, the total number of units will exceed one hundred, representing a municipal investment of 130,000 euros, in addition to a 100,000-euro contribution from the Regional Government of Andalusia.

These initiatives represent a significant step forward in improving the municipality’s educational infrastructure, ensuring that all public schools provide the most suitable and comfortable conditions for the educational community.
