Estepona hosts this weekend the XV Subida Estepona-Peñas Blancas with a record number of participating vehicles

Valid for the Andalusian Mountain Car Racing Championship 2024, it will take place from April 26th to 28th and will also count towards the Malaga Provincial Cup.

The councilman attached to the delegation of Sports, Luis Gil, the president of the Andalusian Automobile Federation, Manuel Alonso Borbalan, and the representative of the organizing company RS Sport, Rafa Arjona, today presented the XV Subida Estepona-Peñas Blancas, one of the most demanding and expected car races on the national scene to be held in the city this weekend, from 26 to 28 April.

The municipal responsible has highlighted the great success that reaps each call of this test, which this year achieves record participation with 75 vehicles registered. He also stated that this circuit is highly valued by the pilots, as it has the longest route of the national scene, with 7.5 kilometers. According to the mayor, it is one of the most risky, with a difference in height of 481 meters, a slope of 6.30% and a maximum slope of 12.39%. In addition to being an incentive for participants, its route is spectacular for the beauty of the landscapes it crosses.

The President of the Andalusian Automobile Federation, Manuel Alonso Borbalán, has announced that this competition will count towards the Andalusian Mountain Championship (4th round) and the Malaga Provincial Cup (car races held in the province of Malaga), in addition to hosting the 4th Subida de Campeones, which is only held in Estepona and which brings together the champions of the autonomous communities.

Also, the head of the Federation has commented that the Subida a Peñas Blancas is one of the most important in the country, as it is a very attractive, technical and spectacular for the audience.

Finally, Rafa Arjona, from the organizing company RS Sport, wanted to value the great team behind this competition, thanks to which it becomes a reality every year. He has also highlighted the spectacularity of the vehicles that will compete, among which there are five Porsche that will excite the motor enthusiasts.

Arjona has announced that from tomorrow the teams will begin to arrive, although it will be the weekend when all of them will be concentrated. On Saturday the competition will start with two training sessions and an official climb and on Sunday there will be a training session and two climbs.

As in the last edition, the start will be located in Guillermo Cabrera Street (Los Reales Avenue area). For its part, the Working Park, Closed Park or Exhibition and the Permanent Office will be located in the Fair and Sports Park, from Friday 26 from 18.00 hours.

In addition, on Saturday, April 27, from 20.00 hours at the traffic circle of the European Union, is scheduled to hold the Start Ceremony, which will present the pilots and participating teams and will feature a sound and light show.

The Town Hall informs that on the occasion of the celebration of this important competition, the traffic of Los Reales Avenue will be closed to traffic on Saturday, April 27th, from 13.30 to 19.00 hours; and on Sunday, April 28th, from 08.00 to 14.00 hours.
