The City Council opens the bidding process for the construction of the large boulevard park that will culminate the transformation of the downtown area.

The project includes the redevelopment of San Lorenzo Avenue in the axis between the new Town Hall, the promenade, España Avenue and the town center.

The project includes a subway public parking lot for more than 300 vehicles that will be added to the municipal parking network system with a cost of 1 euro per day for the user.

The Estepona City Council has put out to tender the works to build the Bulevar Parque Central, an action that will be the culmination of the great urban transformation that the city has undergone in the last decade and that will involve the creation of a large public space in the heart of the town.

Specifically, this new municipal project will be developed in the avenues San Lorenzo and Spain, in the axis between the new Town Hall, the promenade and the town center, contemplating its exterior redevelopment for the generation of another large pedestrian boulevard with leisure and commercial spaces, as well as the creation of a subway parking with capacity for more than 300 vehicles with the system of the municipal parking network of 1 euro per day cost for the user.

The execution of the works has a base bid price of 16,294,318 million euros plus VAT and a completion period of 20 months. However, for the evaluation of the proposals and the determination of the best offer, a series of award criteria will be taken into account based on the best quality-price ratio. These include both the reduction in the price of execution and the reduction in the time taken to carry out the works.

The new Parque Central Boulevard in Estepona is being developed in accordance with the roadmap of the Spanish Urban Agenda, with a triple focus on social, economic and environmental sustainability. The work will merge the pedestrian boulevard to the Mediterranean that the old N340 road has become -generating one of the best promenades in the country- with the renovated historic center, known as the ‘Garden of the Costa del Sol’.

This project will make the public space of the central avenue San Lorenzo, of about 22,000 square meters, another urban reference of sustainability and quality tourism, advancing in the urban model developed in these twelve years and in the friendly city and quality of life in which Estepona has become. This model of urban development is an international benchmark and has been recognized by institutions and social agents for the benefits it brings for the future of societies.

The new boulevard will have unique elements such as squares, promenades, water features and parks, giving personality to the urban space and serving as a meeting point for citizens. It also integrates spaces reserved for cab ranks, reserved spaces for loading and unloading compatible with stores, parking areas for motorcycles, electric vehicles, and bicycle parking, with a clear commitment to improving mobility.
