Infrastructure: Almost a half marathon along the coast possible
The work on a new section of the coastal corridor was recently visited by Estepona’s mayor José María García Urbano and the president of the municipal association of the western Costa del Sol, José Antonio Mena, among others.
The new section of the coastal corridor is being built in the western part of the city. Specifically, it is a pedestrian path that will connect Arena Beach with Guadalobón. With this measure, the municipality now has 20.5 kilometres of coastline. This makes it possible to run almost a half marathon along the coast.
According to the municipality, the works have already connected 90 percent of the urban area via a coastal corridor. In order for Estepona to be completely connected via the coastal corridor, work is still required from the Guadalmansa River to Costalita. These are expected to be completed in January. After that, locals as well as tourists will be able to walk the two kilometres from Costa Natura to the Doncella Beach urbanisation without interruption.
The works with a budget of 702,830 euros including VAT for the last mentioned section will be carried out by the company Urinci S. L.. The city is financing the work with the help of the Plan de Inversiones Mancomunados 2022, which was launched by the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental.
