The urbanization work on Camino de las Mesas, which allows the development of the northern and western areas of the urban center, is completed

The mayor, José María García Urbano, highlights the importance of the project, which has provided the area with seven connecting roads, 16,500 square meters of green areas, a plot for a secondary school and nearly half a thousand parking spaces.

This urbanization project, as well as the connecting roads, will be open to the public after Easter.

The Estepona City Council informs that the works to urbanize and provide infrastructure and services to the Camino de las Mesas sector have been completed. This is a major project that involves the development of a large area north of the city, covering an area of more than 165,000 square meters. The works have provided this area with seven connecting roads for road traffic and one for pedestrian use, which will improve communications throughout this area of expansion of the municipality.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today visited the area after the completion of the works and stressed the importance of a major project that involves the development of the north and west of the town center, and stressed that all possible green areas have been generated.

The urbanization works have created a large green area of 16,500 square meters, a commercial area and 472 parking spaces. In addition, this urban development has allowed the City Council to receive two 5,000 square meter plots for residential use.

The development of this sector also reserves for the Consistory a plot of land for educational use that has already been ceded to the Andalusian Regional Government for the construction of a secondary school.

Work has also been carried out on the subsoil of the land to provide all the piping for the water supply, sewage, gas and telecommunications networks.

This urbanization project, as well as the connecting roads, will be open to the public and to vehicular traffic after Easter.

The investment of this urbanization project is 9 million euros, which has been carried out through a system of action by compensation, as required by urban planning regulations.

With the execution of this action, the entire left bank of the Puerta del Mar avenue is completed and continuity is given to the north with the area of Las Mesas, an area that was already urbanized in 2016.

In addition, this northern area of the city has experienced a breakthrough in urbanization and provision of infrastructure and services, since in 2020 the development of the Juan Benítez sector was completed, which made possible the northern ring road around the city, linking the Fair Park, the Felipe VI Auditorium and the Athletics Stadium with the northern part of Juan Benítez and linking up to the easternmost part of the urban core. This project involved the creation of almost half a thousand parking spaces and almost 20,000 meters of green area.
