Work begins on a new stretch of coastal corridor in the Benamara area

The new route will extend the pedestrian path connecting the area around El Saladillo, where work is also underway, and the Dos Hermanas urbanization.
The Estepona City Council reports that work has begun on a new section of the coastal corridor; specifically, the one corresponding to the Benamara area. This is the path that will connect the walks planned in El Saladillo, which is also under construction and, on the east side, in the vicinity of the Dos Hermanas urbanization.
The objective of this action is to give continuity to the pedestrian itinerary and increase the accessible length of the walk in the area. In this sense, it has been planned to act on a beachfront front of approximately 839 meters long in the area of Benamara. The works include the creation of a printed concrete pedestrian path along its entire length, with a width of three meters, in line with the rest of the corridor.
The intervention allows the recovery of a longitudinal strip along the entire beachfront for public use, for pedestrians, bicycles and light vehicles.
The execution period for this work has been estimated at six months. This new section continues to shape the coastal corridor project in Estepona, which is almost 95% completed.
After the actions carried out in recent months, the City Council has already reached more than 21 kilometers of constructed coastal corridor, being very close to reaching the end of this sustainable and high impact project for the city that has meant preserving the coastline putting it in value and enabling a new tourist attraction. The municipal forecast is that the pending sections will be completed before the end of the year.
The construction of new sections of the coastal corridor continues to attract the interest of specialized companies. In the case of Benamara, a total of 22 firms submitted their proposals for the project, which has finally been awarded to Transportes y Excavaciones Valle del Sol, S.L. for a contract price of 835,421 euros VAT included, which represents a reduction in the base bid price that was initially set at 1.2 million euros VAT included.
