Young writer Javier Montesinos presents ‘El aprendiz del mar’ at Casa de las Tejerinas

Estepona City Council informs that the writer Javier Montesinos will present his book ‘El aprendiz del mar’, published by Editorial Talón de Aquiles, next Friday, December 13, at 6:00 p.m., in the Alfonso Gil Alfonso Hall of the Casa de Las Tejerinas.

Javier Montesinos is 24 years old and was born in Estepona. He is a Senior Technician in Administration and Finance and has more than 200 hours in entrepreneurship programs. He is currently studying a Digital Communication and Writing program at the Anahuac University (Mexico), and is also a collaborator in the creation of several Startups in the Technology Park of Malaga. In 2020 he was the winner of the first edition of “Generation FP”, an entrepreneurial innovation contest of the Unicaja Foundation.

He has published a travel book in which he collects his expeditions on which he makes reports that he also publishes and disseminates in his social networks, as he has done after his passage through the Argentine Patagonia or Vietnam.

In ‘El aprendiz del mar’, the author narrates his experience aboard a training ship. “In March 2023, after a period in real estate, I decide it’s time to start living the adventures that since I was a child I have always read in books and always wanted to live. Thus, the opportunity arose to embark on a training ship; a full-scale replica of a 17th century Spanish galleon. I enlisted in the ship without any marine knowledge and without being related in any way to this world. There I started a voyage of a few months with a group of young people, where we sailed along the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula, from Algeciras (Spain) to Port d’Arcachon (France). It was a few months where I met interesting people and friendships, anecdotes and adventures were forged. At the same time, it was an enriching experience where I acquired lessons that I tried to transmit in writing. It was a journey of initiation for a young man in search of adventures to tell,” explains Javier Montesinos.

From that experience emerged a logbook to which he decided to give a literary style. “I had a logbook that I wrote daily during the voyage and that I decided to transcribe in order to give it a literary style. After five months of work, this eighty-page travelogue emerged, in which I recount my experience and reflections on the voyage,” says the author.
