The City Council announces the ‘Sweet Christmas in Estepona’ Pastry Contest
The final will take place on December 15 at the Escuela de Hostelería de Estepona, CESHMA, at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos. The deadline for registration is November 15.
Estepona City Council announces the Pastry Contest ‘Sweet Christmas Esteponera: Festival of Flavors and Traditions’, organized by the Consistory, with the collaboration of the Centro de Estudios Superiores de Hostelería de Málaga, and Frutas y Verduras Acosta.
This contest is open to participants over 18 years of age, being able to submit their proposals individually or in groups. Those interested in participating may formalize the registration until November 15, 2024 at the Electronic Headquarters of the City Council of Estepona or in the General Register. Along with personal data, they must provide a descriptive report of the proposed recipe, describing the ingredients and the process of preparation, as well as a photograph or graphic representation of the recipe in any of the categories: a) Christmas cakes and pies, b) Reinvented traditional sweets, or c) Free creations inspired by Christmas in Estepona.
The jury will be composed of industry professionals and will be chaired by Ignacio Pascual Madueño, director of CESMA, School of Hospitality in Estepona.
After the deadline for registration, the jury will meet and select, if necessary, 12 participants to participate in the final of the contest on December 15. On that day they will be able to prepare their culinary creations at the headquarters of the hotel school, in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, from 15:00 to 17:00 hours.
Among other criteria, the jury will take into account the use of local and typical seasonal ingredients, as well as taste and texture, presentation and aesthetics, originality and creativity, and the relationship of the creations with the theme of the contest ‘Christmas in Estepona’.
The following prizes have been established and will be awarded at the end of the contest: by the City Council, a mixer and a professional mixer for the best sweet; a basket of products and professional mixer, Frutas y Verduras ACOSTA for the second best recipe; and a complete kit of pastry, CESHMA, for the third place.
