The City Council provides free medical check-ups to 200 students of the Municipal Soccer and Basketball Sports Schools.
The study, which has been carried out in children aged between 6 and 15 years, aims to prevent future heart disease.
The Estepona City Council reports that it has conducted medical examinations to children of the Municipal Sports Schools (EDM) of Football and Basketball who are participating in the 20241/25 season of the Provincial Educational Leagues.
Before the start of these competitions, in the middle of this month, around 200 students (about 100 from the Soccer EDM and another 100 from the Basketball EDM) have undergone a study in which medical professionals have analyzed a series of cardiac parameters.
They also had their spinal column checked, in addition to evaluating other aspects, all with the aim of preventing possible future heart disease. Likewise, generic data on family history were also collected.
The medical examinations, carried out by the municipal medical services, have been made to children aged between 6 and 15 years in the Polideportivo El Carmen, in small groups of 10 students every half hour.
The City Council has been offering this service free of charge, for more than a decade, to the participants of the Educational Leagues organized by the Sports Area of the Provincial Council of Malaga, the corresponding Andalusian territorial federations and the city councils attached to these sports programs.
