The City Council extends by one month the registration deadline for the XI Contest ‘Estepona Crea 2025’ of pop and rock, endowed with 10,000 euros.

This contest, which promotes culture and art among young people, has a local character and awards prizes to amateur groups. Registration will remain open until January 31, 2025.

The Estepona City Council informs that the registration deadline for the XI Contest ‘Estepona CREA’, which this time has a local character and is dedicated to pop and rock music, has been extended until January 31. The aim is to promote and encourage culture and art among young people in the town, as well as to promote stage and musical projects where originality, quality, creativity and artistic innovation prevail.

In this call may compete all those amateur bands of pop and rock music, whose main professional activity is not music, and prove that at least one of its members is a resident of Estepona. As for the ages, they must be between 16 and 35 years, fulfilled on April 26, 2025, when the contest will take place.

The contest has a cash prize of 10,000 euros, to be distributed as follows: First prize: 5,000 euros + trophy; Second prize: 3,000 euros; Third prize: 1,000 euros; and two runners-up prizes of 500 euros. In addition to the cash prize, the first prize winners will receive the contest trophy, a sculpture of the Venus of Estepona sculpted by the prestigious local artist Juan Miguel Quiñones.

The registration of the contestants will be done exclusively online, through the Entry Register of the Electronic Headquarters of the Estepona Town Hall, along with personal and artistic data and scenic proposal, as established in the rules. The deadline for registration of proposals will remain open until January 31, 2025.

After this period, the jury, which will be composed of people of recognized professional, intellectual, cultural and artistic prestige appointed by the Department of Culture, will make a non-presential selection of participants who will go to the final phase, to be held in person on April 26, 2025 in the Felipe VI Auditorium.

After the gala performances, the jury’s decision will be announced and will proceed to the awards ceremony ‘XI Estepona Crea 2025’ to the winners.

The Contest ‘Estepona Crea’ was launched in 2015 with the aim of promoting and encouraging culture and art among young people in the city. With cyclical character, different modalities have been established. The first year, Painting and Dance; in 2016 the modalities of Music and Literature were awarded; in 2017, Theater and Photography; in 2018, Audiovisual Creation and Sculpture; in 2019 and 2020, Estepona Crea Kids special contest of dance and voice, and dance, respectively; in 2021, Composition for Symphonic Band on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the founding of its Municipal Band (1940-2020); in 2022, Lyrical Singing; in 2023, Video Mapping; and in 2024, Voice.
