The Botanical-Orchidarium Park reaches the highest number of visits since its opening with more than 54,000 entries in one year

The space is consolidated as one of the main tourist attractions in Estepona and closes 2024 with 13% more users.

The Botanical-Orchidarium Park maintains the path of growth in the number of visitors and at the end of the year 2024 has reached a new record of users with the highest number since its opening, surpassing the 54,000 people who during the past year have wanted to know closely this spectacular municipal facility, consolidated as one of the main attractions and tourist attractions of the city. This number of entries represents an increase of almost 13% over those recorded in 2023.

Specifically, the enclosure has received a total of 54,235 visitors over the last twelve months, while in the same period of 2023 there were 48,083 entries recorded. In total, 6,152 more users, having reached record numbers during practically every month.

The Botanical-Orchidarium Park of Estepona, with more than 3,000 species of plants, of which more than 1,500 are orchids, is one of the highlights of the routes that visitors to the city design during their stay, and one of the attractions most valued by the neighbors. Last year’s records indicate that the majority of users are from Spain. Among them are also counted those registered in Estepona, to whom the City Council grants two invitations per year. European citizens also stand out: Germans, French, English, Finns, Italians and Swedes. In the records also highlight the visits of citizens of the United States, Argentina, China and Morocco.

During the past year the period of maximum affluence was the spring season, coinciding with the flowering season of many of the species housed. In April there were 6,133 visits. This was followed by August, September and October, when there were 5,472, 5,639 and 5,388 users, respectively.

The Botanical-Oquidarium Park of Estepona is in constant transformation. It was inaugurated in 2015 and is divided into two levels that are at different heights, with a surface area of 1,000 square meters and 15,000 cubic meters of volume. The building has three glass-covered domes that have become its hallmark and have completely changed the physiognomy of the municipality. The main dome of the building houses dozens of species of orchids and a large waterfall that surprises visitors who observe the dome from the inside.

Outside, it has a large green lung of more than 15,000 square meters in the heart of the city. The execution of this project allowed the complete transformation of this space, providing it with this unique facility and this large park that are part of the sustainable urban development project ‘Estepona, garden of the Costa del Sol’.

The objectives of the Estepona Orchidarium are, on the one hand, the conservation of its botanical collection and, on the other hand, its cultural projection through the promotion of information, communication and promotion of the botanical heritage of the City of Estepona through individual or group visits, with the character of a municipal public service of general interest.
