The City Council begins work on the new asphalting plan, which will intervene in fifty streets in the city center and the suburbs.
The work to improve the road surface, which will last for a month and a half in its first phase, will begin tomorrow on Los Frutales Avenue.
Estepona City Council will launch tomorrow the first actions under the new Municipal Asphalt Plan, which will improve nearly fifty streets in the town and the suburbs. This is the sixth program of action in this area that activates the Consistory, thus giving continuity to the conditioning that has been carried out in recent years in other main and secondary streets of the city. Specifically, the first works will be located this Wednesday in the avenue of Los Frutales.
In total, 43 roads will be intervened in which have been selected based on the deterioration of the firm that present, although this number could be expanded as the works progress in case of needs of the project.
The planning with which the company in charge of the works is working includes a first phase of intervention that for six weeks will be carried out in streets of the urban area. Thus, after the avenue of Los Frutales will act on the streets Peral, Matias Prats and Jose Luis Diez. Next week, work is scheduled for Avenida del Carmen (from Tuesday to Thursday during the night).
According to the planned schedule, work will continue on the streets Lazaga, Luis Buñuel, Alcalá Galiano, Gabriela Mistral, Juan Guerrero, Ronda, Dos de Mayo, Jacinto Benavente, and Calle La Mantilla. In this last street it is also foreseen the replanning of work due to the collapse of a wall. Work will also be carried out in the area around the parking lot on Avenida de la Libertad, with excavation and backfill work, screed and treatment.
During March the asphalting plan will focus on Calle Los Naranjos, with demolition of kerbs and repairs, and replacement of paving; and with asphalting on Calle Terral, Calle José Santacana and Avenida de Andalucía. The actions will continue in Los Naranjos street, in the continuation in Andalucía avenue, Gutenberg street, Alonso Cano, Newton, and Arrabal Industrial. It is planned that both the avenues and the streets and traffic circle of the industrial estate will be carried out at night.
All these actions are accompanied by previous signaling works and, where necessary, the temporary removal of containers and pruning of trees.
The next phase of the plan, once completed in the urban area, will focus on the suburbs, where the work areas are as follows: Del Molino, Del Reposo,
Caddie, Valderrama Golf, Del Aire, De la Estrella, Irene Villa, Del Salmón, Isla Verde, Del Dragma, Avenida Costa Galera, Avenida México, access to the Costa Natura beach, access and parking Los Granados, Avenida Hacienda del Sol, Avenida Del Norte, Avenida De los Andaluces, Calle Somontano, and Calle Del Priorato.
The asphalting plan was awarded to the company Elsamex Gestión de Infraestructuras, which submitted the best economic offer, for 1,751,639 euros, which was a significant reduction compared to the base bid price which was set at 2.2 million euros.
The deputy mayor of the area of Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco, has announced that work is underway on a new asphalting plan that will cover another significant number of streets in the municipality and will begin to be implemented from autumn of this year.
This new asphalting plan is in addition to the five previous ones that have been undertaken in the city and that have involved the improvement of more than 200 streets and actions in about 300,000 square meters of surface both in the town center and in areas of the suburbs.
