The Cine-Club concludes the winter season with the remake of the classic ‘The Color Purple’ at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center.

It will be screened next Thursday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m., with free access.

The Estepona City Council informs that the Cine-Club of the delegation of Culture will end the winter cycle next Thursday, March 6th with the screening of the 2023 American film ‘The Color Purple’.

With original English title ‘The Color Purple’, this is a dramatic film directed by Blitz Bazawule from a screenplay by Marcus Gardley, based on the theatrical musical of the same name which, in turn, is based on the 1982 novel of the same name written by Alicia Walker. It is the second film adaptation of the novel, following Steven Spielberg’s 1985 film; a story of the lifelong struggles of an African-American woman living in the American South in the early 20th century.

This bold new version of the classic stars Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., and Halle Bailey, among others.

Due to the long duration of the film (2 hours and 20 minutes), the screening will begin at 7:30 pm. It will be at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, in the original version in English with Spanish subtitles, and with free admission until full capacity is reached.

Synopsis: In 1909, Celie, a black American girl, is given in marriage by her abusive father to a local farmer, Albert, who treats her cruelly. Celie is God-fearing and her deliverance comes in the form of a jazz singer.
