The City Council will organize chess games on the giant chessboards along the Paseo Marítimo throughout the summer

The free “Chess for Everyone” event will be open to the general public and will take place from June 30 to August 23, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Estepona City Council announces that the Municipal Chess School will begin hosting rapid chess games and giant chess games on the large-format boards along the Paseo Marítimo on June 30. As in previous years, the “Chess for Everyone” activity is free and open to the general public. It will take place through August 23 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
This activity is part of the Chess Promotion Plan launched by the Estepona City Council in 2011. As a pioneering educational initiative, this plan has ensured that all children born in 2004 or later have received training to learn how to play chess, a discipline that offers significant intellectual benefits to those who practice it.
The next summer chess event will take place on Thursday, July 2, with the 3rd “Juan Miguel Abril Rodríguez” Memorial, and will continue on August 13 with the 40th “City of Estepona” Night Chess Tournament, both on the Paseo Marítimo.
In addition, the Municipal Chess Sports School will offer chess classes during July and August for the Under 8–10, and Under 12-14-16 age groups, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, except on Wednesdays, when classes will be held at the Cancelada Mayor’s Office.
