The Cancelada Fair will feature performances by “No me pises que llevo chanclas,” Gonzalo Hermida, and Las Soles

This festival, which runs from August 20 to 23, will feature more than twenty free activities for people of all ages

The Estepona City Council announces that the Cancelada Fair will be held from August 20 to 23 and will feature a varied program of free activities for people of all ages.

The Deputy Mayor for the Outlying Areas, Begoña Ortiz, has highlighted the interest these festivities generate among both locals and visitors, which is why the City Council strives to ensure that each edition of these festivities is carefully organized and features free performances by renowned artists such as Las Soles, Gonzalo Hermida, and the legendary agropop group “No Me Pises Que Llevo Chanclas.” The latter will perform alongside “Sótano Sur,” a group that pays tribute to the Golden Age of Spanish Pop, during the ’80s Night.

The festival will kick off on Thursday, August 20, with the opening address, which this year will be delivered by Emilio Rodríguez Ruiz, a local businessman who has been working in Cancelada for over 30 years through his company, Mantenimientos, Obras y Servicios Retamar S.L.

In addition, singer Juanjo Alcántara and flamenco dancer Ana Guerrero will perform. This will be followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the lighting of the festival lights, after which attendees can enjoy live music by the Metrópolis Orchestra. At 12:30 a.m., the Youth Pavilion will open to younger attendees, featuring the best current music to enjoy throughout the four days of the fair.

Friday will begin at 12:30 p.m. with activities for the little ones, who can have a great time on the 50-meter water slide and the inflatable traffic circuit, located on Inmaculada Jabato Street and in Plaza de la Juventud. Free inflatable attractions will also be available for children from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Plaza del Consultorio.

At 2:30 p.m., the Day Fair will officially open. At 4:00 p.m., the soccer tournament awards ceremony will take place, and at 5:30 p.m., the concert by “Los Calvin” will begin, bringing covers of the best Spanish pop-rock of all time to Cancelada.

Our senior citizens will also be treated to the traditional afternoon snack, and local resident Petra Sevilla Rueda will be honored. The event will be enlivened by performances from Ana Guerrero’s dance academy and the musical show “El Baúl de los Recuerdos,” at 7:00 p.m. at the

Municipal. Starting at 10:30 p.m., the Metrópolis Orchestra will liven up the evening festivities, which will culminate at midnight with a concert by “Las Soles.”

On Saturday, the fun continues with a chess tournament at 10:00 a.m. and a big water and foam party at 12:30 p.m. at the Free Wave Sports Center. At 3:00 p.m., attendees will be treated to free paella prepared by master paella chef Raúl Postigo, accompanied by a performance by the group Latidos. Finally, starting at 5:30 p.m., the musical performances will begin with the flamenco-pop group “SondeKalle”; at 10:30 p.m., the Metrópolis Orchestra will take the stage; and at midnight.

The day will culminate with a concert by artist Gonzalo Hermida, who will perform his greatest hits, such as “La ciudad intermitente,” nominated for Best Pop Song at the Spanish Music Academy Awards and which earned him his first Díal Award for Best New Artist; “La Promesa,” the theme song for the TVE series and a number-one hit in Spain; or “Quién lo diría,” with which he performed at the Benidorm Fest, among many others.

And on Sunday, the final day of the festivities, the day will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a Rociera Mass in honor of the Virgin of the Most Pure Heart of Mary, and starting at 12:30 p.m. on Montemayor Street, the 3rd Andalusian Costume Contest will be held in tribute to Francisco Tineo Vázquez, a professional doma vaquera rider and breeder of purebred Spanish horses.

We’ll continue with the Daytime Fair featuring a performance by Grupo Latidos starting at 2:30 p.m. and “Compás Flamenco” at 5:30 p.m. And to wrap things up, we’ll celebrate “80s Night” with performances by the kings of agropop, “No me pises que llevo chanclas,” at 10:30 p.m., and the tribute band to the Golden Age of Spanish Pop, “Sótano Sur.”
