The City Council will allocate more than one million euros to the renovation and improvement of playgrounds in the urban core and the outskirts of the city.

The Consistory will give the green light at this month’s plenary session to the economic item that will allow this integral plan to be carried out with the aim of starting its execution as soon as possible.

The Estepona City Council has designed an ambitious plan for the renovation and improvement of municipal playgrounds, located both in the town center and in the outlying areas, and in which 1.1 million euros will be invested. The aim of this project is to modernize and put in perfect state of use and safety these spaces for the leisure of the little ones.

The City Council will give the green light in the plenary session of this month to the economic item that will allow to carry out this comprehensive plan with the aim of starting to be executed as soon as possible.

The project contemplates the intervention in enclosures in which it will proceed to the replacement of the elements of play and security that are in poor condition, for others of higher quality and more modern.

The Deputy Mayor for Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, points out that this is a project that will involve “a major improvement of the playgrounds of the city, which will improve both the safety floor and the play elements.

In general, the protective surfaces made up of rubber tiles will be replaced with continuous 4-centimeter thick rubber safety flooring. In addition, the play elements in poor condition that can be repaired will be removed.

In the same way, urban furniture elements that interfere with the works, such as litter garbage cans or benches, stored on site, will be removed and subsequently relocated within the children’s area or in its immediate vicinity.

On the other hand, the new sets of games or isolated elements included in the budget will be installed, locating them according to the safety area required and indicated by the manufacturer.

Finally, in those areas that do not have a perimeter safety area, a 90-centimeter-high colored metal fence will be installed.
