Estepona celebrates France Day with a program of activities that will start on Wednesday

It is included in the ‘Sharing Cultures’ project created by the City Council to promote the integration of foreign residents.

The deputy mayor of the Extraradio area, Begoña Ortiz; and the head of the delegation of the Alliance Française in Estepona, Florine Lafont, have presented the program of activities that has been organized to celebrate the Day of France.

The municipal responsible has explained that this is an activity framed in the program ‘Sharing Cultures’, organized by the City Council, which aims to raise awareness of French culture and customs, as well as promote the integration of the more than 900 French who are registered in Estepona.

The councilor explained that the activities, which have the collaboration of the Alliance Française, will last for three days. She also commented that these dates have been chosen to coincide this event with an important event in France as is the feast of ‘Beaujolais Nouveau’, a very popular red wine that goes on the market in France on the third Thursday of November.

The head of the French Alliance in the town, Florine Lafont, has reported on the program of activities that will begin this Wednesday, November 20, at 19.30 pm, with the opening of the exhibition ‘Les coulisses du cinéma’, at the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel. It is an “interesting sample” of 32 black and white photographs that collect intimate moments of French film shootings captured by Christophe Brachet.

On Thursday, November 21, also at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, the classic film ‘La Grande Vadrouille’ will be screened, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

Finally, on Saturday November 23 will be held most activities, such as petanque competition, from 10.00 to 12.00 hours in the street Felix Troyano (next to the soccer field San Fernando), with prior registration in the mail f.lafont@afmalaga. In addition, from 12.00 to 13.00 hours will be offered an introductory course in petanque, a sport that was born in 1907 in French Provence.

The same day, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Chess Square will host the Great French Market, where you can taste typical French dishes and Beaujolais wine. There will be different stands of decoration, art, Christmas gifts and workshops for children. At 18.00 hours, in the same location, there will be a concert by the group ‘Pascale & Co’ that will perform songs in French to the rhythm of jazz.
