The City Council will celebrate Carnival 2025 with the traditional costume contest and the performance of several “comparsas” and “chirigotas”.
The Carnival will be held next Saturday, March 1, in the Plaza del Ajedrez, from 12:00 hours. The bar will be for the benefit of the Real Hermandad de Santa María de los Remedios. In case of rain, the party would be held at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses.
Estepona City Council informs that the celebration of Carnival 2025 will take place next Saturday March 1, in the Plaza del Ajedrez, with the following program:
– 12:00 pm: CHILDREN’S Carnival PARTY, with the performance of an animation group, singers, and DISGUISE CONTEST for the election of Adult NINFA (150 euros) and Child Nymph (150 euros), Adult MOMO GOD (150 euros) CHILD MOMO GOD (150 euros), BEST ADULT DISGUISE (150 euros), BEST CHILDREN’S DISGUISE (150 euros), BEST GROUP DISGUISE, formed by a minimum of five participants of any age (400 euros) and BEST NUMBERS THEMATIC GROUP, (400 euros).
– 14:00 hours: Performance of COMPARSAS AND CHIRIGOTAS.
– Chirigota of Estepona / San Pedro ‘TU CARA ME SUENA’. Director, Alberto Benítez Láinez; and lyrics and music, José Miguel Mata del Río and A. Benítez Láinez.
– Chirigota de Estepona ‘AQUÍ MANDO YO’. Direction, Alejandro Higuero; lyrics and music, the group; and musical director, José González.
– Comparsa de Marbella: ‘LOS MAJARETAS DE LA BICICLETA’. Direction, Antonio Quiñones Campos’; lyrics, Guillermo Guerrero Melero and Miguel Ángel Vera Granados; and music, M. A. Vera Granados.
– 17:00 hours: BURIAL OF THE SARDINE. The procession will leave the Plaza del Ajedrez along Avenida Valencia, Calle Zaragoza, Calle Terraza, towards the beach of La Rada, at the height of Correos, where the Sardine “DANA” will be set on fire. The procession, which is recommended to be accompanied by rigorous and exaggerated mourning, will be “enlivened” by a group of mourners and carnival groups.
Estepona City Council encourages everyone to participate in costume in groups or individually, thus giving more joy and color to the Carnival. In case of rain, the acts of the Plaza del Ajedrez will be moved to the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos.
