Estepona celebrates this Sunday the Ukrainian Day within the program to encourage the participation of foreign residents.
This event, which is part of the ‘Sharing Cultures’ initiative, will feature a craft market, different workshops, a culinary festival and an exhibition of Ukrainian art, ending with a gala concert.
The City Council of Estepona organizes this coming Sunday, September 29, a new event dedicated to Ukrainian culture and is part of the program ‘Sharing Cultures’, created to promote the participation of foreign residents in the city in social and cultural activities.
The deputy mayor of the Extraradio area, Begoña Ortiz, has announced that the Ukrainian Day will take place from 11.00 to 21.00 hours in Avenida España number 250 (in front of the ‘Diario ABC’ square) and will include stands with typical Ukrainian products, gastronomy, art and music.
According to the mayor, Ukraine is a country that has much to offer, as it has a very rich culture, a varied cuisine and a spectacular folklore of great color and colorful, “so this activity is a unique opportunity to learn more about our Ukrainian neighbors residing in Estepona”.
The municipal responsible has stressed how important it is for the government team these festivals of integration between citizens of other cultures who have chosen our city to live, “for us it is a priority to strengthen ties with our residents. Also, as he has specified, Estepona has 135 different nationalities, and this Sunday the goal is to pay tribute to the approximately 2,000 Ukrainians who are registered in the city.
For its part, Valentyna Bodnar, representative of the association Prosvita, has reported on the program of activities that will take place during this day that will open at 11.00 am. At 11.30 a.m. a handicraft market will open its doors and workshops will also begin where the little ones will be able to enjoy artistic drawing and the making of dolls and handicrafts with beads, to finish with Cossack games.
At 13.30 the culinary festival ‘Taste of Ukraine’ will start with typical Ukrainian food and drinks, at 17.00 there will be an art exhibition ‘Ukraine first and foremost’ and from 18.00 to 21.00 there will be a gala concert with the participation of artists, singers and dancers. In addition, a prize draw will be held at 20.00.
Valentyna wanted to thank the City Council for the great support offered to Ukrainian citizens and commented how special it is for all of them to be able to share and make their culture known among the other residents of Estepona.
