The City Council begins to prepare for the upcoming summer season with the tender for the new surveillance towers on beaches

There will be 17 facilities in La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo and Arroyo Vaquero.

The Estepona City Council is already working on the next summer season and has initiated the procedures for the acquisition of the new surveillance and lifeguard towers to be placed on the beaches of the municipality. To do this, it has opened the procedure for the tendering of the contract for the supply and installation of 17 new towers, with a base bidding budget of 142,961 euros.

Specifically, the new facilities for the lifeguard service will be distributed on the beaches of La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo and Arroyo Vaquero, from Mexico Street to Arroyo Enmedio.

The towers will be 4.7 meters high (of which 0.7 meters will be under the sand), made up of a transportable and prefabricated two-piece structure (base and hut). They will be provided with access stairs to the upper area. The upper part will have a decked area, so that the person in charge can watch from any position.

The hut will have a door on each side with 5 mm thick sliding methacrylate so that on bad weather days the surveillance function can be carried out without any problem, as well as guaranteeing the same against breakage.

The roof will be flat, made of laminated wood. It will be resistant to ultraviolet radiation, humidity, impacts and aggressions, in addition to not needing maintenance or replacement. In this way, and thanks to its composition, it will guarantee its durability over time.

The new turrets will replace the current lifeguard chairs available to the lifeguard service during the next beach season.

In the awarding of the contract, the best economic offer presented, the shortest execution time and the extended guarantee will be valued.
