The Estepona Town Hall informs that works have started on the sixth public parking lot with a cost of 1 euro per day for the user in the surroundings of the church of El Carmen.
The works are being executed by the company Innovaciones Técnicas y Recursos Constructivos S.A and have an investment of 10,001,331 million euros (VAT included). This project is subsidized for an amount of 1.4 million euros by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union-Next Generation EU. The contract execution period will be 20 months.
Since last week, the concessionaire of the parking lot works has been moving the existing tree and plant species in the surroundings of the church of El Carmen for their preservation during the works.
The work began last week and will continue over the next few days. Specifically, 25 units of large palm trees of the species washingtonia robusta (between 5 and 7 meters high), and 16 other trees, including jacarandas and albizias, will be moved.
Most of the trees will be transferred to the municipal nursery to ensure their maintenance, although 16 units of palms will be transplanted in the urbanization El Pirata.
The Consistory is providing technical advice and logistics for the transfer of the trees to ensure their proper conservation.
The new public parking lot will be located next to the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church and will have 322 parking spaces distributed over three subway levels.
When the works of the future parking lot next to the parish of Carmen are completed, the Consistory will create a square in the area and the current surface parking will be maintained, as well as road traffic.
With this pioneering parking system for its reduced cost for the citizen, parking is facilitated in the main enclaves of the city, while carrying out a valuable social work, as it favors the integration of people with disabilities.
This new public parking will become the sixth of these characteristics that will be part of the parking network deployed in the points where a greater need for parking is detected, such as those located in the San Lorenzo Avenue, in the new City Hall, in the Antonia Guerrero Square, in the Athletics Stadium and in the Chess Square.
