The City Council Begins the Second Phase of the Air-Conditioning Plan for Estepona’s Schools

The project involves the installation of 35 new units, with a total investment of 64,000 euros, and will be completed before the start of the school year

The Estepona City Council has begun the second phase of its plan to install climate control systems in the city’s schools, with the installation of 35 new heating and cooling units that will improve classroom comfort year-round. This project represents an investment of 64,000 euros.

The councilwoman in charge of Education, María Aguilar, explained that work has already begun and that the City Council’s goal is to have the installations completed before the start of the next school year, so that schools can have these new climate control systems available from the first day of classes.

The city official noted that this second phase includes the installation of equipment at the Valeriano López, Víctor de la Serna, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Santo Tomás de Aquino, Gloria Fuertes, and Ramón García schools, as well as at the municipal preschools Los Pitufos, El Mar, and Calancha.

Aguilar noted that this initiative is a continuation of the climate control plan launched by the City Council to gradually equip classrooms that do not yet have them with cooling, ventilation, and heating systems. “We continue to make progress so that our schools have adequate temperature and comfort conditions for students and teachers, especially during the hottest months,” the councilwoman added.

The Councilwoman for Education recalled that the City Council had already carried out the first phase of this plan, during which some fifty climate control units were purchased and installed at a cost of 60,000 euros. In this second phase, the City Council continues to address the needs identified in the city’s various schools.

Aguilar emphasized that these measures aim to improve classroom conditions and enable both students and teachers to carry out their activities in a more comfortable environment. “Our commitment is to continue installing these systems wherever they are needed and to keep improving the facilities at the city’s public schools,” she noted.

Furthermore, the Councilor for Education noted that the City Council has made a record investment of more than 800,000 euros to improve 18 educational facilities, including elementary schools and preschools. In addition to routine maintenance work, larger-scale projects are underway, such as the comprehensive renovation of restrooms and exterior walkways, the improvement and refurbishment of playgrounds and sports fields, the renovation of bleachers and walls, as well as the replacement of wall coverings and flooring in various schools.

Laminate flooring is also being installed in classrooms, and safety flooring is being laid in playgrounds at several elementary and preschool schools. Through this series of projects, the City Council continues its commitment to improving educational spaces, with initiatives aimed at creating facilities that are safer, more functional, and better suited to the needs of the educational community.
