The City Council thanks the Red Cross Estepona for the assistance it provided to more than 1,400 people during the past year

The councilor attached to the area of Citizen Participation, María Aguilar, has valued these data “which reflect the effort, solidarity and the great work carried out by this entity in its attention to the most vulnerable”.
The councilor attached to the delegation of Citizen Participation, Maria Aguilar; and the president of the Local Assembly of the Red Cross in Estepona, Enrique Garcia, today presented the Annual Report of the Red Cross Estepona, highlighting its work of social inclusion, care for the elderly, youth, children, immigration and gender violence.
The municipal responsible has reported that during the past year, this entity has served 1,482 people and has made 27,453 social interventions. These data reflect “the effort, solidarity, seriousness and the great altruistic work carried out by these men and women in their service to the most vulnerable”.
In addition, the mayor thanked this great work and expressed the priority that is for the City Council to support the Red Cross, as well as all entities that provide services and develop programs for citizens who need it most.
Also, Maria Aguilar, has reported on the various actions carried out by the Consistory to collaborate in these entities can continue to implement their care programs to these citizens, such as direct financial aid, which are granted annually, the transfer of premises for use as headquarters and municipal facilities for holding charity events, fiscal support and collaboration in the solidarity events organized.
For his part, the president of the Local Assembly of the Red Cross in Estepona, Enrique Garcia, said that 2024 has been marked by the efforts of volunteers and the direct impact on the most vulnerable groups, in addition to a considerable increase in all projects.
As he explained, this entity has 119 volunteers with a dedication of 11,150 hours of work, and with the support of 1,182 partners. He thanked them for their dedication and effort, in each of the areas in which they have acted, the main ones being health, environment and training; children and youth, the elderly; immigration and refugees; extreme vulnerability; gender violence and emergencies.
