Work begins on an access walkway to the roof of the La Lobilla pavilion to facilitate maintenance and cleaning during the rainy season.
The City Council has been working on a complete action to put an end to the leaks suffered by the building and has allowed the replacement of the entire rainwater collection system.
The Estepona City Council reports that work has begun on the construction of an exterior metal walkway to access the roof of the pavilion of La Lobilla. This is one of the measures agreed for the development of this equipment aimed at ending the water seepage that had been occurring in the sports complex. The new footbridge, which is being installed once the corresponding anchorages have been made, will facilitate the tasks of the municipal workers in charge of the maintenance tasks with greater safety and efficiency.
The Consistory will culminate in this way the intervention programmed in the building to improve the rainwater collection system outside the pavilion. The first action consisted of replacing the perimeter gutter that collects rainwater from the entire roof. The existing gutter was cracked in several sections, which caused leaks; therefore, it has been replaced by a polyurea one, guaranteeing its watertightness. The works had a budget of 15,000 euros and were executed in three weeks.
At present, work is being carried out on the exterior metal walkway to improve the maintenance of the gutter. This will facilitate access for workers to carry out maintenance and cleaning work, quickly removing anything that could obstruct the drains, and ensure that the work is carried out under optimum safety conditions. Nine metal cross beams have already been attached to the structure of the building. The longitudinal metal beams, the walkway and the necessary handrails will now be installed.
This action has a budget of 50,000 euros and is expected to be completed in approximately ten days.
