Fifty national and foreign artists have exhibited their works at La Casa de las Tejerinas during 2024.

The cultural space has become a point of reference for both new creators and recognized names in painting, sculpture and literature.

The center has also hosted 36 writers in book presentation events.

The Estepona City Council reports that La Casa de las Tejerinas has closed the year 2024 with a total of 49 exhibitions of works by local, national and foreign artists. The cultural space located in the Plaza de las Flores continues to be a reference for creators of different disciplines, accommodating not only painters, sculptors and renowned writers, but also those who are starting out and are looking for a place in which to make their work known.

In this way, Las Tejerinas has hosted during the past year a total of 42 painting exhibitions, 6 sculpture exhibitions, 1 exhibition held in collaboration with Easter brotherhoods, and up to 36 literary presentations, along with five other business events.

For this space, recovered in 2011 by the City Council as a cultural center, have passed, among others, the master glassmaker of the town Jonatan Diaz with the exhibition of art glass ‘Looks, from destruction to art’, the contemporary artist Lu Gomez Malaga, the painter Othmane Chamlani, the multidisciplinary artist Mar Rivera Seville; the charity group exhibition ‘October 19, 19 artists’; the group exhibition of paintings and glass sculptures by Swedish artists based in the town Puck Jansson, Staffan Säfwenberg and Leif Ahrle; the Swedish artist based in the Campo de Gibraltar, Jan Sallnäs; the Russian artist living in Estepona, Elena Done; Evelyn Kortum, an artist known as e.wasserhase; the New Zealand artist based in Spain, Sian Faber; the Iranian artist based in Estepona, Mahnaz Razavi; the artist from Estepona, of Scottish origin, Toby Govan; the painter from Burgos, resident in Estepona, Pilar Ruíz Manso; the sculpture and photography exhibition ‘Otras cuestiones y un libro usado’, by the Argentinean artist Fernanda J. Carregado; the Ukrainian painter based in Spain Ulyana Korol; the Madrid painter living in Estepona Paloma Ripollés; the group exhibition of paintings by Czech artists also based in the town, Jarmila Malotová, Jana Rubesca and Eduard Malota; the Brazilian artist Livia Alencar; the painter Ana Villalobos, or the exhibition ‘The most intimate faith of the people’, organized by the sacramental Brotherhood of the Captive and Health,

They have also presented book, among others, the young writer Javier Montesinos Esteponero, with his work ‘The apprentice of the sea’; the writer Teresa Potoc Zaragoza, with ‘ Roots of wine and blood, the last work of his trilogy ‘Cities with Mystery’; the poet, narrator, columnist and novelist from Algeciras Juan Emilio Rios, with the book-catalog ‘Ireneo Ruiz, a painter of the Campo de Gibraltar’; the well-known nutritionist Laura Perez Naharro with ‘The method of the 3 dishes’; the journalist Graciano Palomo with ‘Exodus and power’; Antonio Mena, with the book of poetry ‘La estación de los corazones olvidados’; the student of Philosophy of Estepona Miguel Palma Molina, with his first book ‘La Metamorfosis del Pensamiento’; the writer José Javier García-Carpintero, with the winning work of the second edition of the ‘Premio de Novela Ciudad de Lebrija’ 2024; José Ruíz Márquez, with ‘Recuerdos de un esteponero’; Salvador Gómez Mena and his daughter Nydia, with their poetry books; or the Estepona native Miguel López Ramírez, with his book ‘Guiños en el alma’.

Located in the Plaza de las Flores, La Casa de las Tejerinas is a rectangular building of the eighteenth century. The building was owned by the sisters Carmen and Francisca Tejerina. The latter donated it to the Hospital de la Caridad, having welfare use until the City Council took over the property. Since 2011 it has been used for cultural purposes.

Admission is free and it can be visited from Tuesday to Friday from 09.00 to 20.00 hours, and on Saturdays from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 20.00 hours.
