Avocado and Bardo restaurants, winners of the XV Tapa Route ‘Saborea Estepona’ 2026

The tapas ‘Forest Surprise’ and ‘Cannolo de gamba esteponera in textures’, have been the most valued by the majority of customers and by a popular jury, respectively. The people who voted for the best tapa have participated in the draw for nearly fifty prizes.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today presented the awards to the winners of the XV Ruta de la Tapa ‘Taste Estepona 2026’, an event framed in the activity ‘Estepona lives its streets’.
The restaurant ‘Avocado’, with the tapa ‘Forest Surprise’, has been the winner by the popular jury who voted among the 46 options that participated this year. Bardo Restaurante’, with the tapa ‘Cannolo de gamba esteponera en texturas’, was the tapa chosen by the professional jury.
With the registration of 46 establishments in the town center and the suburbs, and 10,000 passports distributed so that citizens could vote for their favorite proposals, the contest ‘The Best Tapa’ has recorded this past weekend’s edition with the highest participation.
The establishments with the tapas most valued by citizens, and by a professional jury, have been recognized by the City Council with a plaque and cash prizes.
The restaurants and bars winners of the three prizes of 1,000, 500 and 250 euros in the categories; best tapa chosen by customers and best tapa chosen by a professional jury, are as follows:
Choice by popular jury:
– 1º.- Avocado, with ‘Sorpresa del Bosque’ (Forest Surprise).
– 2º.- Trampantojo, with ‘Falsa identidad 2.0’.
– 3rd.- Tuna Experience. Mercado Santa Ana, with ‘Tuna tartar and truffle mayonnaise on glass bread’.
Choice by professional jury:
– 1º.- Bardo Restaurante, with ‘Cannolo de gamba esteponera en texturas’.
– 2º.- Trocadero Estepona, with ‘Brioche of pork head in the wood oven’.
– 3º.- Halomon Restaurant, with ‘Chicharrón at low temperature with sweet and sour sauce’.
In addition to voting for their favorite tapa, citizens who have visited a minimum of three establishments have participated in the draw for almost a hundred prizes, including a night in a hotel in Andalusia for two people with breakfast included, 4 Thalasso SPA packs for two people, 1 SPA circuit and lunch for two people, 1 paddle surf board, 1 Iberian ham, fruit baskets, small household appliances, tickets for different shows at the Felipe VI Auditorium, 1 catamaran ride or drinks worth 50 euros in participating establishments. Once the prize draw, the City Council will contact each of the winners.
The mayor, José María García Urbano, highlighted the level of culinary proposals that have participated in this edition and noted that the Ruta de la Tapa is a “good showcase for neighbors to know the wide and interesting gastronomic offerings that this city has.
