Work progresses on the first phase of the comprehensive remodeling of the main roads in Cancelada

Work is currently underway on Mirador Avenue and will continue on Marqués del Duero and Montemayor streets. In addition to the new paving, the works include the renovation of the sewage, supply, rainwater and lighting networks of these streets and their adjacent connections. The total investment amounts to almost 3 million euros.

The Estepona City Council reports that the works of the first phase of the redevelopment works of the three main roads of Cancelada are progressing at a good pace and are approaching their equator. Through this project the streets Mirador, Marqués del Duero and Montemayor will be remodeled, with an investment of 2,951,493 euros.

This initiative follows the path of the improvement works that have been carried out in Estepona’s urban streets, modifying their conception to adapt their design to more pedestrian streets, while replacing and modernizing infrastructures.

The project is being developed in three phases, so that the works in each of them do not coincide with the rest, and includes a first phase which is currently being executed and which consists of the widening and sidewalk works on Avenida Mirador, which will have a one-way traffic flow to the south. The second phase will focus on Marqués del Duero street, which will also be one-way but northbound, and the third on the redevelopment of Montemayor street.

In addition to the new paving, the planned works include the renovation of the sewage, supply, rainwater and lighting networks of these streets and their adjacent connections.

The City Council has opted for a joint contracting of the works but in a phased manner, so that the execution of the second or third work does not begin until the previous one has been completed in its entirety and the End of Work Certificate has been issued, so that each street can fulfill its function of passage and service.
