The City Council resumes work on the José Martín Méndez traffic circle, which is moving towards its final phase.

The project will improve traffic flow and will be completed in approximately one month.

The Estepona City Council has resumed construction work on the new traffic circle on Avenida José Martín Méndez. An action that aims to reorganize the circulation in this area and decongest traffic at the traffic circle where the BP gas station is located.

The works had to be temporarily stopped due to the need to execute a detour of a medium voltage line, an essential action to be able to continue the project with all the technical and safety guarantees. Once these works were completed, the construction of the new traffic circle has been resumed.

This action takes place in one of the areas with the highest concentration of traffic in the municipality, especially at peak hours as it connects with the access to the industrial estate. Specifically, the new traffic circle is located at the junction of José Martín Méndez Avenue and Alemania Street.

The deputy mayor of Infrastructure and Development, Ana Velasco, said that the works are facing their final phase in which it remains to complete the north sidewalk, run the central traffic circle and perform the work of asphalting and signage throughout the area. Velasco stressed that this action will ‘improve traffic flow and reorganize the circulation towards the ascent to the polygon, helping to decongest the BP traffic circle’.

The project has a municipal investment of 401,415 euros (VAT included) and the works are expected to be completed within approximately one month.
