The Mayor visits the improvement works of the Camino de Los Pedregales road

The councilor was accompanied by the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, Manuel Cardeña, the mayor of Casares, Juan Luis Villalón and representatives of the Costa del Sol Environmental Complex.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, Manuel Cardeña, the alderman of Casares, Juan Luis Villalón, and representatives of the Environmental Complex Costa del Sol, today visited the improvement works of the Camino de Los Pedregales.

This is an action that is being carried out by the company Urbaser, which manages the Environmental Complex Costa del Sol, owned by the Commonwealth of Municipalities.

The mayor of Estepona has pointed out that these works will reinforce the safety of a very busy road connecting Estepona with Casares and the Environmental Complex.

The project has a budget of more than one and a half million euros and covers a stretch of road of more than 7 kilometers. The works include a series of interventions aimed at optimizing the condition of the road surface and the operability of the route.

The works also include a new access to the Environmental Complex, specifically for heavy vehicles, incorporating a waiting lane that will improve traffic flow in this section.

The Los Pedregales Road runs through the municipalities of Estepona and Casares. Specifically, the Casares section extends from the connection with the MA-8300 to the traffic circle at the Sierra Bermeja industrial estate. From this point begins the Estepona section, which ends at the access traffic circle to the Cepsa service station, at the junction with the A-7 and AP-7 freeway, at the height of the José Martín Méndez industrial estate.

The purpose of this action is not only to improve the state of the road surface, but also to reinforce road safety and facilitate the transit of vehicles, especially heavy vehicles, on a key axis for industrial activity and the connection between the two municipalities. The area is not only home to the Costa del Sol Environmental Complex, but also to the Casares industrial estate, some quarries and numerous companies.

The start of the works is an important step towards the modernization of this infrastructure, which is a fundamental route for mobility in the area. The works are expected to take two months to complete.
