The Estepona City Council collaborates one more year in the organization of a new edition of the 24 Hours of Sports

The event will be held on June 13 and 14 in different municipal facilities and will count with the participation of more than 6,500 athletes in 70 sports modalities.
The mayor, José María García Urbano, and the president of the 24 Hours Sports Foundation, Manuel Vallejo, today presented the 49th edition of this sporting and social event to be held on 13 and 14 June. As every year, this great sporting event is organized by the 24 Hours Sports Foundation with the support of the Consistory.
The first mayor has reported that the City Council collaborates in the organization of each of the editions of this activity through financial support, with municipal staff, and with the transfer of all municipal sports facilities where competitions take place.
Also, the mayor thanked the Foundation and all its trustees for all the work and effort they carry out in the organization of these games, which bring together more than 6,500 athletes and about 20,000 spectators, and that make Estepona during these days in a real sports showcase.
As stressed by the mayor, “the 24 Hours Sports is the most important sporting and social event in our city and the City Council will always be helping and supporting its organizers so that this event, which next year celebrates half a century, continue to shine and be a reference in the province”.
For his part, Manuel Vallejo has indicated that this great festival of sport will feature 70 sports, some of them already consolidated and other new additions. Thus, among the main novelties and most outstanding competitions we have the Flag Football Championship (American soccer) to be held on the morning of Saturday June 13; a rugby exhibition at the soccer field San Fernando; a spectacular Carrera de Autos Locos which has been presented by Pablo Vales, one of its organizers; an Andalusian Frisbee Tournament; and as one of the most emblematic tests of the program we will have the I Subida Mítica a Sierra Bermeja, which has more than 300 registered.
In this regard, has specified that the most followed sport and has a greater participation is soccer, both 11-a-side soccer, indoor soccer and soccer. Although it is the latter that has the highest participation and one of the main pillars of this event. Thus, in this edition will be played more than 150 football-7 games with the participation of 120 teams in different categories, which will force the tournaments to be played from Friday.
Also in this edition, the Plaza del Recinto Ferial will host the stage and the ring where the exhibitions of kikboxing, muay thai, rhythmic gymnastics, karate, toning, ballet maintenance, flamenco and modern dance, body combat, mills dance, zumba, fit dance, acrobatic dance, zumdance and fashion show will take place.
There will also be nautical activities, karate, clay pigeon shooting … and there will also be paddle tennis tournaments, judo, k-1 and amateur and professional kick boxing, adapted basketball, golf, chess, badminton, as well as angling and night fishing competitions, karting ranking, speedsoft, ultimate frisbee, table tennis, beach tennis, beach tennis and volleyball, among others.
The president of the 24 Hours Sports Foundation wanted to give special thanks to the City Council, and local sports organizations, partners, sponsors, and in general, the whole town of Estepona, their commitment and support that make it possible that year after year we can celebrate this great festival of sport.
