The City Council completes the comprehensive remodeling of the Botanical Orchid Park with the complete renovation of street lighting

The intervention includes the installation of new luminaires that do not affect the circadian cycles, as they are designed to illuminate only the transit area. In addition to the public lighting, scenic lighting will be installed throughout the park.

This action complements the comprehensive remodeling recently carried out in the area, in which the pavement, street furniture, irrigation systems and botanical species have been renewed, among other maintenance actions.

The Estepona City Council is carrying out the complete renovation of the street lighting around the Botanical Orchid Park. An action that complements the comprehensive remodeling recently executed in this emblematic area and that will completely modernize its lighting system by replacing about 60 luminaires and the incorporation of new scenic lighting designed to enhance the botanical wealth of the enclosure.

The works include the replacement of all the existing luminaires with new energy-efficient LED technology equipment, which will help to reduce electricity consumption and improve the sustainability of the municipal facilities.

In addition, the new luminaires have been designed to provide lighting that is respectful of the environment and the neighbors in the area. Its system is designed to direct light exclusively towards pedestrian traffic areas, avoiding glare and minimizing light dispersion, so that it does not affect circadian rhythms and reduces light pollution.

The project also includes the installation of scenic lighting, with around 100 points, to highlight the different plant species housed in the Orchid Park. This new lighting will enhance unique botanical specimens and reinforce the landscape attractiveness of one of the most visited parks in the city.

This intervention complements the integral remodeling recently carried out in the Orquidario Botanical Park, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of its creation. This project has improved the park’s image and services by incorporating new tree and botanical species, renovating pavements to make them more accessible and adding new urban furniture. The irrigation facilities have also been modernized and new informative signage will be installed to bring visitors closer to the value of the plant collection housed in this space.

The works have also included the waterproofing paint treatment of all the exterior walls of the Orchidarium building, as well as the replacement of the glazed security panels located on the access stairs to the Orchidarium.

With these actions, the City Council continues to improve one of the main cultural and tourist references of the city, moving towards more sustainable, accessible and adapted to the needs of residents and visitors facilities.
