Estepona City Council informs that the Library of Contemporary Cultures will host tomorrow Wednesday, June 10, at 20:00 pm, the presentation of the book ‘Cleopatra VII. Beyond the myth’, the work of writer, poet and cultural manager Alfredo Taján. The event will take place on the sixth floor of this cultural facility and admission will be free until full capacity is reached.

In this new publication, Taján offers an exciting journey through the life, emotions and political circumstances of Cleopatra VII Philopator, the last queen of the Ptolemaic dynasty and one of the most fascinating figures of antiquity. Through an account that combines historical rigor with humanistic reflection, the author analyzes the complex personality of the Egyptian sovereign and her relationship with characters as decisive for history as Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.

The work invites the reader to enter the Alexandrian universe and explore the great impulses that have marked the human condition over the centuries: political ambition, desire, the quest for power, personal strategy and imperial calculation. The extraordinary circumstances surrounding Cleopatra’s life thus become the starting point for a profound reflection on human nature and the evolution of history.

Alfredo Taján is one of the most relevant figures of the Malaga cultural scene in recent decades. Throughout his career he has developed an intense work as a musician, novelist, poet, critic, essayist, writer and cultural manager, standing out especially for his contribution to the dynamization of the cultural life of the province.

As a writer he has received important literary awards, including the Juan March Novel Prize for El salvaje de Borneo, the Café Gijón Prize for El Pasajero and the City of Salamanca Prize for Pez Espada. He is also the author of several novels published by leading publishers such as Destino and Espasa Calpe, as well as numerous collections of poems and essays.

With this activity, the Estepona City Council continues to promote a quality cultural program that brings the public closer to prominent authors and encourages interest in literature, history and contemporary thought.
