The City Council approves the allocation of a new space to the Spanish Association Against Cancer for the provision of free care to cancer patients and their families

The property, located at 170 Terraza Street, ensures the continuity of the valuable care and support work that this organization provides in the municipality

The Estepona City Council reports that the City Council’s Plenary Session has unanimously approved the transfer of a municipal property to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) for a period of twenty years, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of the care and support services that this organization provides in the municipality.

The transfer, spearheaded by María Aguilar, Councilwoman for Social Integration and Social Services, will provide the association with a new space to carry out its activities. The property is located at 170 Terraza Street and consists of three rooms adapted for the provision of its services.

The new headquarters will have a total of three rooms, including a new space designed to offer more personalized care and greater privacy. This room will be used primarily for consultations with the social worker, who provides services at the association three times a week, as well as for initial intake interviews with new patients. In addition, it can also be used to provide those in need with a private space to try on wigs, thereby fostering a more personalized and respectful approach to their privacy.

From this location, the Spanish Association Against Cancer offers free care to patients and their families through psychological support, social services, physical therapy, and hospital and home care. It also organizes various workshops and activities throughout the year aimed at improving the physical and emotional well-being of those affected by the disease.

Councilwoman María Aguilar noted that “this lease demonstrates our support for the important work carried out by the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Estepona and ensures that it can continue its activities in facilities suitable for caring for patients and their families.” In this regard, she emphasized that “the City Council remains firmly committed to social organizations that provide essential services to our residents, collaborating with them so they can carry out their work.”

Through this initiative, the City Council strengthens its partnership with an organization that is a leader in providing comprehensive care for cancer patients and support for their families, while also promoting cancer prevention, awareness, and research.
