Zenet and Felipa del Moreno, headliners of the third edition of Estepona’s “La Movida Flamenca”

The festival will take place on Saturday, August 1, at El Ángel Park, starting at 8:45 p.m., with free admission. It will open with guitarist Gaspar Rodríguez and up-and-coming singer Jassy Ojeda, and will feature performances by Daniel Casares and Javier Ojeda as guest artists.

The Estepona City Council announces that this coming Saturday, August 1, starting at 8:45 p.m., the third edition of “La Movida Flamenca” will be held at El Ángel Park—a festival that blends flamenco and pop, organized by the City Council. This year’s event will feature such notable artists as Zenet from the world of pop and Felipa del Moreno from the world of flamenco, both performing in Estepona for the first time.

Zenet is one of the most evocative voices on the Spanish music scene. Now a leading figure, backed by a spectacular band that flirts with jazz, his voice is a recognizable hallmark synonymous with elegance and quality. Over the course of five albums, he has mastered a variety of sounds—all united by a common harmonic language—reinterpreting every genre he tackles.

For her part, Felipa del Moreno—whose real name is Felipa Medrano Lara—is a prominent Romani singer born in the Santiago neighborhood of Jerez de la Frontera on February 27, 1980. She comes from two great flamenco lineages, the Pantojas and the Moneos, and is the niece of legendary figures such as Fernando Terremoto de Jerez, Juan Moneo Lara “El Torta,” and Manuel Moneo.

As an added bonus, the festival will open with Gaspar Rodríguez from Estepona, a prominent contemporary flamenco guitarist who was a member of Cañadú and served as musical director of the Nuevo Ballet Español. He will be followed by the up-and-coming Jassy Ojeda, the only artist from Málaga selected for the national competition “Girando Por Salas” and who has just released an album.

The Councilwoman for Culture and Festivals, Macarena Diánez, highlighted the uniqueness of this festival: “We’re talking about four hours of live music in Parque del Ángel, with free admission, that sets itself apart through its commitment to quality and emerging artists.”

She also recalled that the spark for the first edition of “La Movida Flamenca” originated in Estepona during the San Juan Night celebration, during which Estepona-born guitarist Daniel Casares and singer Javier Ojeda shared the stage; both will be attending the festival on August 1 as guest artists.
